Day 01: Arrival in Calicut (Kozhikode) & Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Calicut Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After some time to refresh, embark on an afternoon sightseeing tour of Kozhikode.

Formerly known as Calicut, this historic city was the capital of Northern Kerala under the Zamorin rulers and a major hub for the spice and ivory trade since pre-medieval times. It was also the landing site of the Portuguese navigator Vasco Da Gama in 1498, marking the opening of a direct sea route to India.

During the tour, visit key attractions such as:

  • Kappad Beach – where Vasco Da Gama first set foot on Indian soil.

Hassan itself was once under the rule of the Hoysala Empire (11th–14th century), whose architectural and cultural legacy can still be seen in the region. Visit the magnificent temples at Belur and Halebidu, celebrated for their intricate carvings, detailed sculptures, and stunning architecture. You may also explore Shravanbelagola, famous for the colossal Gomateshwara statue and its spiritual significance.
